Hoop dat ik in het goeie draadje zit, (niet dus, maar nu wel )maar kon van die vogel in Schotland even niets vinden. Weet ook even niet meer wat het is voor vogel. Een Osprey?? Bleeeh. (was gewoon even erg moe en uitgeteld)
Maar er is een ei van de Visarend dus. (dank Piet)
8 April 2009 - first egg has been laid!
Our female osprey has laid her first egg of this breeding season. It was laid last night at 7.17 pm and she has been sorting the nest and incubating the egg since. Eric has also been working hard on the nest trying to make it perfect for the female and her egg. We are expecting her to lay a further one or two eggs over the following days, usually a couple of days apart. The eggs are expected to hatch between five and six weeks after the first egg is laid and the chicks will be fully fledged at around seven weeks old. This is her 53rd egg laid which is remarkable for a bird of her age. We are looking forward to following the progress of her and her eggs over the breeding season and wish her every bit of success.
2 April 2009
It has been a glorious bright sunny day for the ospreys today. The male dive bombed a buzzard after the buzzard went for the osprey. He successfully chased the buzzard off and went back to his daily routine. The male has been seen on numerous occasion giving fish to the female, making sure she is well fed. The female will continue to shout to the male whilst on the nest for food, bedding and sticks as it will become the males responsibility to keep her and their chicks fed during the breeding season. Interestingly young males during their very first breeding season (at about the age of 3 years) are very reluctant to part with their food. Females will call repeatedly to the males to be fed and will resort to begging for food from strangers. By keeping the female well fed, this may reduce the chances of a female begging and mating with strangers.

En ze gaat maar door de visarend in Schotland. Een derde ei
15 April 2009
Great news!!! The female laid her third egg this morning at 8.28 am. She began pacing around at 8.20 am looking very uncomfortable before finally settling down on the nest and having contractions. The male sat by her side for a few minutes before flying off to leave her to lay her egg in peace. Once the third egg was laid she rearranged them, then settled down on the nest ready to start a day of incubation.
The weather yesterday was dull and cloudy and the water was a bit choppy making it difficult for the male to see fish. The female spent the day incubating the eggs whilst getting a few breaks to stretch her wings and legs when the male took over. The male has continued to collect divots from the golf course for lining the nest which I am sure makes a nice and comfortable bed for the female and her eggs. At around 7.25 pm the male arrived with a freshly caught fish for the female which she flew off with to eat. Once she was well fed she returned to the nest to get back to her role of incubating the eggs. On days when the water is choppy making fish difficult to see, ospreys will refrain from hunting until conditions become more suitable. Because the female relies on the male to feed her, she will be seen by viewers as not getting fed when in actual fact the male is just waiting until the weather improves. The female is in no danger of starving because if the male did not feed her for a prolonged period of time she would leave the nest and hunt for herself. Thankfully the male has always been good to her and she has never been in that situation.

Mooi filmpje te zien van de Schreeuwarenden in Estland. Ze hebben twee joekels van eieren.
